Paper Sweeties October Release Party!

Paper Sweeties Release Party is here, which means that all the new Paper Sweeties October stamp sets are available in the Boutique starting right now!  And, here's another Christmas card created with the newest Sweet Cuts die set, Stitched Tags #2.
After painting corrugated cardboard with white acrylic paint, I die cut the tree in the center. For the colorful tree inside, I happened to have some 12x12 patterned paper with large Christmas trees on it, so I just cut the tree from that. For the shaker, I used my Fuse tool to create a shaker pouch from a sheet protector and filled it with Frosting and Sugar Sprinkles sequins and Fran-tage Shaved Ice. I like the way acetate sheets look for shakers, but I have to tell you, using a plastic pouch is much easier because you can fill it before putting it in the card, and to attach it, I just die cut a tree from a second piece of cardboard, then sandwiched the edges of the pouch between the two cardboard layers. After adhering those layers to a red and white dotted background paper, I made a green bow with Green Apple Seam Binding and Peppermint Baker's Twine, both available at Paper Sweeties, and added a few Strawberry sequins around the card, filled with White Opal Liquid Pearls. Finally the star tree topper was cut with the star die in the Trim the Tree Sweet Cuts set, and Diamond Stickles gave it plenty of sparkle.
On the inside of the card, I stamped a sentiment from the new Do You See What I See stamp set, colored the heart with a Copic marker, and used a paint pen for the highlight. The distressed cardboard Christmas tree is the die cut from the front of the card.

Paper Sweeties April Release Countdown!

I'm back with another card for the Paper Sweeties April Release Countdown! I never used to make shaker cards, but Paper Sweeties' sequins are so fun, I can't seem to help myself. 

I used the new Tree of Life Sweet Cuts die to cut a tree-shaped window for my shaker and filled it with tiny beads and lots of Tuti-Fruiti sequins. The sentiment and banner, from the Hello Friend stamp set, were heat embossed onto vellum and cut out using the banner die from the Be Happy Sweet Cuts set.

Paper Sweeties April Inspiration Challenge #30 - 'Hoppy Easter'

I don't know about you, but lately I had been feeling like winter would never end. Now, here it is, Spring--almost Easter! How does that happen? I hope it's not an April Fool's joke! ;)

Well, it's no joke that it's time for the Paper Sweeties April Inspiration Challenge: Hoppy Easter! And, I had a blast making this card.
If you are familiar with Paper Sweeties images, you already noticed that Abigail's eyes look different. As with a card I posted yesterday, I was inspired to try my hand at adding eye detail by Jane at Jane's Box of Colours. My detail is nothing like hers, but it's a start. ;) I also added folds to Abigail's paper pieced dress, from the Jelly Bean Time stamp set, using Copics, and gave her a satin sash with a gold Spica pen.

I used the Viva la Verve March 2015 Week 3 sketch for the card design, but instead of using a skinny fishtail banner under the bow, I cut a fishtail window to make a shaker. I have only made one other shaker card, but I just love Paper Sweeties sequins (Jellybeans is my favorite!), and the best way to be able to use lots of them is in a shaker. My Teamies often make beautiful shaker cards, like here, here, here, here, and here.
On the inside, I sponged Distress Ink around the edges of a piece of green cardstock, then masked off the center and stamped a spatter design in white pigment ink, stitched three banners to the top, then stamped a sentiment and cute little flower from the Bloom & Grow set.

Timeless Tuesday #252: Shake It Up!

Can you believe the last day of 2013 is here already! Whether you are planning a big blow-out party or a quiet night in to celebrate the New Year, I hope that when the ball/apple/peach/pinecone/whatever drops, and fireworks are lighting up the sky, it's the beginning of your Best Year Ever! And, what better way to start the New Year than with a FUN Timeless Tuesday Challenge! ;)


This week's challenge is hosted by Guest Designer, Jessi Fogan, and her challenge is perfect for bringing in the New Year!


Now, if you're like me, and have never have made a shaker card before, here is a SCS tutorial that might help you. The layout of my card is the MojoMonday #326 Sketch.
For the New Year, I just had to ink up the champagne glass in the Lots of Thoughts stamp set for this challenge. It is colored with Copic markers, and the bubbles have Crystal Stickles on them. I used shiny metallic beads, that reminded me of bubbles, inside the shaker. 

The polka dot bg was made using Dylusions Ink Sprays, acrylic paint, Memento ink, and Flourishes So Distressed stamp set. After spraying several colors of ink spray onto a piece of Flourishes Classic White cs, and drying it with my heat gun, I stamped the distressed polka dots all over with Tuxedo Black Memento Ink, dried that, then stamped on top of those dots again, using white acrylic paint. (If you do that be sure to wash the paint off the stamp as soon as you are finished!) The harlequin patterned strip was from a Graphics 45 paper pad, but I spritzed it with dark brown ink spray to give it an aged look. The "Cheers" sentiment is from the Lots of Thoughts stamp set, also. I cut the flag with a Verve Flag It die, sponged Antique Linen Distress Ink over it, stamped the sentiment, edged it with a silver leafing pen, added a couple of dots of silver Stickles, then popped it up over the edge of the shaker area.

The "Happy New Year" sentiment is from Flourishes Inside & Out Happy stamp set. I stamped it with Memento Tuxedo Black ink, and stamped the champagne glass in Memento Pear Tart Ink, stamping off once first, to lighten it up a bit.
