TMS #161: Sweet of You

Tuesday, August 28, 2012

Hello Friends! It's Tuesday, and you know what that means--Tuesday Morning Sketches! And, Raisin Boat is our awesome sponsor again, too. Have you heard of them? What Net Flix does with movies, Raisin Boat does with stamps. You can pick whether you want to rent stamp sets or buy them brand-new! They have a fantastic line up of stamps, but they also carry the other things we love to use on our cards, like ink, markers, cardstock, bling, and...well, you get the idea. Be sure to check out their site for yourself! :)

Here's the sketch.
And, here's my card. Can you see the dimension in the flower? After coloring and fussy cutting, I cut a few of the petals down to the "pearls" in the center to separate them from the rest, then glued the edges of the adjacent petal to the back, which pulled all the petals forward. It's backed with a Delicate Dahlia die cut from Memory Box. The red die cut is solid color cs, which I stamped with a Grape Floral bg stamp in Versamark. Most of it is covered up, but you can still see a little of it.

The sentiment is actually all three words in a line, so I inked up one word at a time and stamped them separately so they would fit in the circle die cut. You can't see it in this photo, but I spritzed the sentiment with Heirloom Gold Perfect Pearls Mist, too. It shows up better in the photo at the top of the post. I used Glossy Accents over the small stamped heart, and Liquid Pearls in each of the points.

I found another fun stitch on my sewing machine.

On the inside, I stamped a portion of a Grape Floral background stamp in Spun Sugar Distress Ink. IRL it's actually lighter than in this photo. It will be easy to write over it, but still dark enough not to be lost under a personal message.

Now, it's your turn to wow us with your creativity! That Raisin Boat prize is going to somebody--wouldn't it be great if it was to YOU!!! I hope you'll join us at Tuesday Morning Sketches this week, and be sure to check out the rest of the DT, as well as our fab Guest Designer, Shelby, for lots of inspiration!

Tuesday Morning Sketch Challenge #142: The Bottom Line

Tuesday, April 17, 2012

Hi Friends! Here we are again, with another Tuesday Morning Sketch Challenge! Take a look at Melissa's sketch:

I love using lots of different patterned papers together, and this sketch is perfect for a little mix-n-match. And, you have got to check out this week's sponsor: Raisin Boat. Raisin Boat is a unique company, in that they offer 200+ exclusive sets of stamps for purchase, brand-new, or for rental on a month-to-month basis--or both. How cool is that!
Bobbi and Kim, co-owners of Raisin Boat, were kind enough to send the DT stamps for this week's challenge, and I received one called, "Undies in a Bunch." I had a lot of choices with this set because it has sentiments for birthdays and encouragement, and several "undie" choices. I opted to make a masculine encouragement card.

I paper pieced the boxers and colored the clothespins with a Copic marker, and all the dp's I chose seemed like good patterns for boxer shorts. The sketch called for 3 embellies, but I opted to put eyelets in the three dp panels and lace them with twine.

I randomly stamped all the different undie stamps on the inside sentiment panel and stamped half the inside sentiment over them. The last half of the inside sentiment, I stamped in white ink, directly on the dp, and embossed it with white embossing powder. Aren't all those undies cute? :)

Be sure to check out the rest of the DT's blogs for lots of fun, inspiring ideas for this week's sketch (you can find links to their blogs on the Tuesday Morning Sketch blog), then get to work on your own creation and join us in the fun! You have until Sunday at 8PM EST to link up your project at the TMS blog. I can't wait to see what you create!!!

Thanks for stopping by today! Have a great week!

~Hugs!
