Spooky Pup--Tiddly Inks New Release!

Tuesday, September 30, 2014

Tiddly Inks has new digi stamps that you are going to LOVE!
I used the cute new Spooky Pup image for this card. I printed him onto X-Press It Blending Card then colored him with Copics. All the designer paper, including the poem came from the Spookville 6x6 Paper Pad by We R Memory Keepers.
The Halloween sentiment on the inside of the card is also from the Spookville pad.

There are four new digi images released, featuring this puppy, and every one of them is adorable! You've got to check them out

And, don't forget, a new Tiddly Inks Challenge started today, too. Why not grab one of the new puppy images, give it a little sparkle, and link it up in the challenge!

Have a fantastic day!

Sweet Dreams Wryn--Make It Sparkle Challenge with Tiddly Inks!

Hello there! It's time for a new challenge at Tiddly Inks, so create something fun and Make It Sparkle! You can use glitter, sparkly embellies, Stickles, any kind of sparkle pen, or sparkle paper--whatever your heart desires...just make it sparkle!
I used the super cute Sweet Dreams Wryn digital image for my card. I love that she is in bed reading--something my daughter likes to do, and I colored her with Copics, with the furniture in funky colors, similar to my DD's furniture. The sentiment is an old MFT stamp. For some sparkle, I used a few Twinkle Goosebumps, a tiny drop of silver Stickles on the lamp pull, and Magenta Stickles to embellish the design on the head and foot of the bed.
I love how the inside turned out. It reminds me of a girl's frilly bed linens.

You won't want to miss the designs by the rest of the DT this week! They are amazing!

Thanks for stopping by, and have a Sparkly week!

For Your Hospitality--Tiddly Inks Fabulous Friday!

Friday, September 26, 2014

If Fridays weren't already fabulous enough, today is Tiddly Inks Fabulous Friday! For my Fabby Friday card today, I used one of the images from the Castles digital stamp set to make a thank you card for a friend. (I used the other castle image here a couple of weeks ago.)
After printing the image on X-Press It Blending Card, I colored it with Copics and used my Copic airbrush for the sky. The pearls were made with a Viva Decor Pearl Pen, and the brown twine is from a recent win at Serendipity Stamps--I won a giant sampler of solid twine from The Twinery! FUN! :D
The inside sentiment is a Penny Black stamp, stamped in Memento Tuxedo Black ink.

Be sure to head over to the Tiddly Inks Blog to see the amazing cards the rest of the DT made. You'll be so inspired by them, you'll be running for your craft room to create something equally cool! ;) And, why not make it a fairy card and link it up in our current Fairy Fun Challenge? You've still got a few days to enter!

Thanks for stopping by, and have a wonderful week!

Pamphlet Stitch Book

Thursday, September 25, 2014

I love making cards. I enjoy stamping (both physical stamping and digi stamping), coloring, choosing all the fun papers and a cool layout--all the way down to sending the finished card to someone. But truth be told, a simple piece of paper is all I need to be a happy crafter! I'm a very tactile person! :) Even my love of reading and writing originally began because I loved how the paper felt in my hands. There is just something about the look, feel, and even the smell of paper that grabs me. So, when I visited my friend, Deborah, a couple of weeks ago and she gifted me with a stack of gorgeous handmade papers, I knew right away what to do, and in a few days, my sweet friend will have this handmade book in her hands!
I covered framer's mat board with the handmade papers for the covers, which measure 4.5" x 6". The pages inside (24 lb. colored paper) measure 4.25" x 5.5" (A2 size). I don't know exactly what is in the handmade paper, but it feels heavenly. Can you see the texture in the photo? It looks a little like a soft flocked fabric, and has a similar feel (perhaps it's mulberry paper?).

I assembled the book using a pamphlet stitch. Unlike a coptic stitch book, a pamphlet stitch cannot be used to create more than a one-signature book--a pamphlet, but by stitching each pamphlet to an accordian spine, I was able to put seven "pamphlets" together into one book. It is stitched together with waxed pearl cotton, and I used satin ribbons to hold everything together. An exposed spine is the only way to go with a book like this!
Here's a look at the accordion spine from the top. Each of the seven signatures (pamphlets) is made up of four folded sheets, which makes a 112-page book.

When the book is opened, you can see a section of the spine between each of the signatures. Notice that the book opens completely flat. I love that about this style.

The pamphlet stitch creates a knot in the center of each signature (pamphlet). I like to have the knot on the inside and leave the tails long. I think it adds to the handmade look in a beautiful way.

Thank you, again, Deborah, for such a wonderful weekend, and for the beautiful papers!

And, thank you to everyone who stops by my blog, and especially to those of you who leave sweet, encouraging comments. I appreciate each and every one of them!

Hey, Officer...

Wednesday, September 17, 2014

Hi there! I've got a really quick post for you today. A friend who likes to incorporate the traditional and modern anniversary gifts in her husband's gift and card has asked me to make her card for the past 3 years, here: 9th anniversary, 10th anniversary, 11th anniversary. This is her 12th anniversary, and the gifts for this one are linen, silk, and pearls. A tough one!
Her husband is in law enforcement, and she loved this image from The Stamping Chef for her card for him this year. ;) I colored it up with Copics, added silver Stickles to the belt. For the "gifts," I used a linen textured card base, sewed the sides of the striped designer paper with red silk thread, and used silver flat pearls as embellishments on the banner as well as a small one on her hat. I printed the sentiment using Word.
I left the inside blank so she could add a personal message. ;) I hope she likes it!

Thanks for stopping by, and, Hey!...Enjoy the rest of your week! 8~D

It's Tiddly Inks Challenge time! And, this week we're having fun with fairies!
I used the Willow the Tooth Fairy digital stamp for my card today. She's printed on X-Press It Blending Card and colored with Copics. I printed just the flying teeth and coin an extra time so I could pop them up with foam tape and 3-D glue.

I hope you'll link up and join in the fun with us! Tiddly Inks has dozens of cute fairy stamps to choose from, so you're bound to find one (or more!) that you love! ;) And, be sure to visit the rest of the DT to see their Fairy Fun creations, too!

Two Littles--Tiddly Inks Fabulous Friday!

Friday, September 12, 2014

Hi Everyone! Today is Fabulous Friday at Tiddly Inks, and I have used two of the cutest "Little" guys to make gift tags for a friend's twin boys, who have birthdays coming up soon: Little So and So & Little Hopper-Toadally Amazing.
After printing them onto X-Press It Blending Card, I simply die cut them, colored with Copics, drew in their mouths, added a little transparent Paper Pen to the eyes, including the big froggy eyes, and added random dots with Paper Pens to the backgrounds, leaving enough clean space to be able to write the names of the recipients to the cards. The images are backed with layers of die cut cardstock, and I used foam tape to separate the top two layers from the bottom two. Easy peasy!

I'm actually in Virgina right now, visiting with my sweet friend, Deborah Anton! It's her boys who have birthdays next week. Happy Birthday, Boys!!!

Be sure to visit the rest of the Tiddly Inks Design Team to see their beautiful creations! I'm still pinching myself over being on the team with all those talented ladies! And, there's still time to enter the current Tiddly Inks Pop of Color Challenge, too!

What You Believe In--New Tiddly Inks Images!

Monday, September 8, 2014

Hi Everyone! It's time for a new week, and what better way to start it than with some fabulous New Tiddly Inks digital images! Christy's new Halloween Fairy Tale images are so cute, and you can make them spooky or sweet, depending on how you color them.
There are four new images in the new release, and I used three of them for this card, the Dark Queen, White Queen, and Drago. I also used one of the Princess Castles, a foggy background image, a checkerboard background image, and a text background to create a fun fairy tale scene. Since these are all digital images, I was able to resize, flip, and layer them in my photo editing program (I use Paint Shop Pro X6) until it was exactly what I wanted, then I added a colored translucent layer over the checkerboard and text backgrounds to give it color. The castle, dragon, and queen images were colored with Copics. I added Glossy Accents to the wrap around the Dark Queen's waist to give it a patent leather look, and to the top of her staff. It doesn't show up very well in the photo, but I used a gold Spica pen on the White Queen's collar and waist, and clear Wink of Stella to both queen's eyes. To color the castle, I used the chisel end of my Copics to randomly make "bricks" on the castle walls and "shingles" on the roof turrets. The Dylusions sentiment is heat embossed, and continued on the inside of the card.

After sponging Chipped Sapphire Distress Ink heavily around the edge of the image panel, I matted it with a piece of lavender cs, then popped that up with foam tape onto a piece of smoky blue cs.
The continuation of the sentiment is heat embossed on the inside of the card, and I added a lavender flourish die cut, just to bring a bit more color inside.

Now, how about a little fairy tale fun for yourself? All these images and more are available now in the Tiddly Inks Shop, and you can see the gorgeous DT samples, using these images, here! Oh, and, dont' forget...you've still got time to enter our Pop of Color Challenge, too!

Tiddly Inks Poppy Color Challenge #140

Tuesday, September 2, 2014

Hi there, blog friends! Hope you had a great weekend (and a long one for my U.S. friends!). I haven't been blogging too much in the past couple of months, but starting today, I plan to post more regularly. And, for a very good reason...I am now a member of the Tiddly Inks Design Team, and this is my first official Tiddly Inks DT post!!! YAY! Thank you, Christy, for inviting me to join the team, and to the entire team, including the departing members, for the warm and friendly welcome!

It wasn't hard to choose an image to use for my first Tiddly Inks post. The email invitation I received to join the DT was definitely Happy Mail for me! And the colors in this week's Poppy Color Challenge are happy, as well!
One of the things I love about digital stamps is how easy it is to create a scene with layering--no masking necessary! Wryn, the mailbox, the bird, and the sentiment are all separate images when you get them. I printed the digi's on X-Press It Blending Card and colored it with Copics. I couldn't resist giving Wryn a few freckles to go with her red hair. ;)
Here's a look at the inside. It seems to have a little bit of a pink tint all over, that I just couldn't get out without losing the other colors. Reds and pinks are so hard to photograph!

I hope you'll join us in the Tiddly Inks Poppy Color Challenge, and be sure to visit the rest of the DT to see their beautiful creations, too!

Thanks for stopping by, and have a wonderful week!
