Birthday Wishes

Happy Thursday! If my card looks a little familiar tonight, it's because it's my second card for the CR84FN38 Color Challenge--bright pink, black, and gray. However, where my Big Wish card was heavily distressed, this card not only has zero distressing, it also has no ink other than the sentiment and a silver paint pen used to make faux stitches (the "gray" in the challenge). I don't remember ever having gone inkless before, and it took all I had to stay away from the ink, but I like the clean edges, and it was a breeze to clean up afterward!

A week or so ago, my mother had asked me to make a birthday card for one of her friends. Her only request at the time was that it be black and white. After seeing the Big Wish card, she liked the pink, too, but she wanted her card more "tailored" than that one, so I used the Mojo Monday 207 sketch this time, and went with an overall cleaner look.

I used a Nested Lacey Pennants die to cut the pink flag, mixed up some Mod Podge and glitter and painted it on for a little sparkle, then punched ribbon slots to attach the flag to the black layer. It looks a bit like a luggage tag, doesn't it? I used a Labels Fourteen die for the sentiment and a Sharpie paint pen for faux stitching on that and the black layer that frames it.

I think I like the inside of this card just as much as the front. The scrollwork paper makes for a nice frame. I left the inside blank so it could be personalized.

Well, Mom...is this what you had in mind?

I so appreciate your visit today, and hope you'll be back soon! Have a fantastic Friday!
