This week we have a Guest Hostess, Angel Rivera, and she is challenging us to
Stamp a Background!
Easy enough...just use stamps to create your background paper!
I started with a blue card base from the True Blue Color Made Easy Cardstock Collection. Then, to make the bg paper, I stamped the hydrangea image, from the Happy Thoughts stamp set, three times with Versamark ink, then I heat embossed with clear embossing powder. I colored the image with Inktense pencils, using only Field Green for the stems, and Sea Blue and Antique White for the petals. I blended the petal colors with a waterbrush. Using a very fine paint brush, I added tiny white specks of Copic Opaque White. Even though I watercolored this card, and also last Thursday's card, I was pleased to be able to get two different looks simply by changing the medium.
The sentiment came from the Anemones stamp set, and it, too, was heat embossed, with a tan embossing powder. It is framed using a Flourishes' Perfectly Pierced Victorial Oval die cut, which I edged with a gold Krylon leafing pen. A strip of velvet ribbon, a few flowers, and a bit of twine finished up the front of the card nicely.
On the inside, I went simple, with just two rectangle layers, some sponging, a little more gold leafing, and the single hydrangea image in the corner.
I'm not sure that I've ever created my own background paper, but it sure was fun! Why don't you try it? Who knows...you might just win a prize from Flourishes! And remember, you don't have to use Flourishes stamps, but if you do, you get two ballots toward the weekly prize! You can find all the details for the Stamp a Background challenge here. And, if you want to own this gorgeous stamp set for yourself, you can only get it through the FLIP program. All the details for that are here.
Now, before you get too busy on your own background paper, be sure to take a look at the rest of the team's creations and soak up some creative inspiration. They love hearing from you, so leave them a little blog love, too! :)
