Happy Mother's Day to all you crafty moms out there! I hope today has been special for you. I spent the day re-organizing my craft room because my daughter gave me a new cabinet with lots of drawers in it for Mother's Day! I have always had to keep a lot of things on my craft table, but now the things I use the most are within arms' reach and my table is uncluttered! Yay!
It has been quite awhile since I've posted anything. I've been prepping for a class I'm teaching, beginning this coming Wednesday, and I haven't had time for anything else. I think I have tennis elbow from cranking paper through my Big Shot over 2,400 times! Whew! I was never so happy to finally be able to make a simple card before. ;)
This Mother's Day card features a Tim Holtz butterfly image, colored with Copic markers. The coppery embellishment beside it is one I made from clay, then I rubbed several colors of Inka Gold over it to give it a metallic finish. The card layout is from this week's Mojo Monday sketch challenge. I used the MFT Blueprints 13 die set to cut the burlap, green flag, and dark blue background cs.
I'm entering this card in the following challenges:
Mojo Monday 344 Contest
Simon Says Stamp Monday Challenge: Five (I used 5 different colors of ink)
613 Avenue Create Challenge #71: Anything Goes
Paper Issues Challenge: Mum's the Word
Corrosive Challenge #199: Banner Day

For the inside of the card, I used the same MFT Blueprints 13 die set to cut the patterned paper and large green fishtail banner. I put the personalization panel on the diagonal to coordinate with the layout on the front of the card.
Thanks for stopping by, and have a Happy Mother's Day!

LUCKY girl, Cheryl, to ge the craft cabinet! FAB gift! LOVE the butterflies on this Pretty card! Good luck with your class!
Sounds like you received quite the present, always great to have more room to create! Good luck at your class :)
Love your collage feel to the card, great layering and textures and cool embellishing!
What a great collage Cheryl! I really like the different textures and the interesting elements you have added - from the burlap to the clay element to the pin. The torn element with the butterfly that is just popping off the paper is delightful- well done!
Thank you so much for sharing your project & creativity at our house!

The inside is as impressive as the outside. I love that layout and actually think I should CASE it. The butterflies and collage style on the front are fabulous. I have that paper and think it's so pretty. Wonderful Mother's Day gift from your daughter!
Awesome card, Cheryl! I love burlap on a card! How fun that you got DRAWERS!! I love drawers and an uncluttered space, too. It opens my mind to be more creative, although I know lots of crafters who make beautiful things surrounded by complete chaos. It's a lovely diverse world!! Hugs, Darnell
Love this one Cheryl, you have a style all your own! Thanks for the awesome class today, you are a wonderful teacher!
