Timeless Tuesday #225: Scallops...& Some News!!!

Tuesday, June 18, 2013

Hi Friends! I've been just about to bust at the seams the past couple of weeks, waiting to share the exciting news that I have joined the Friends of Flourishes Design Team! Happy Dance!!! :~D A BIG Thank You to Flourishes, and to all the ladies on the team for their warm welcome!

Now, on to this week's Timeless Tuesday Challenge. Denise is our hostess this week, and her challenge is to incorporate scallops into your card or project. Simple as that! You don't have to use Flourishes stamps, but if you do, you get two ballots toward the weekly prize! You can find all the details for the challenge here.

For my card, I inked up the crocus from Flourishes' A Year in Flowers 1 stamp set with Memento Tuxedo Black ink, stamped it onto Flourishes Classic White Cardstock, colored it with Copics, then sponged Broken China Distress Ink for the background. The layers were cut with Spellbinders dies, distressed along the edges with Spiced Marmalade and Rusty Hinge Distress Ink, and I gave a couple of them a little "lift" with layers of crimped cs. The green silk bow is hot glued to the corner of the image layer and the tails are wrapped around the corner and adhered to the back of the sewn squares. The blue satin ribbon and rhinestone jewel are both hot glued onto the green bow.

To create the card back, I cut a second scalloped square, scored it 1/2" from the top, then glued that to the front of the card. The dark orange frame is the negative from the die cut I used on the front of the card. For the sentiment panel, I stamped the crocus image on Flourishes Classic White Cardstock in Spiced Marmalade Distress Ink, stamping off once to get a lighter image, and the Happy Birthday sentiment, from Flourishes' Botanical Bookplates Vol. 1 stamp set, is stamped in Memento Tuxedo Black ink.

So, now it's your turn! Break out your punches, dies, or scissors, start scalloping and play along! I can't wait to see how everyone takes on this challenge--you can really go in just about any direction!

Also, take a moment to be inspired by all our designers' blogs, as well as this month's Guest Designer, Berni Cuttino, and be sure to leave some love for them, too! :)
Thanks for stopping by, and have a wonderful week!

It pains me to admit that this card/color combo is STRIKINGLY beautiful since I'm a GA Bulldog fan and my hubby is a FL Gators' fan! I love the hint of blue that the die cut gives off! If it were just a layer of paper, it would not look as pretty for sure!
Great job, friend and congrats!

This is fabulously beautiful, Cheryl! I adore all the layers and this color combo is wonderful! Love that stitching too! You used crimped cardstock instead of foam mounting tape to life the layers?? Brilliant! I'll have to try that out!
