Beach Babes

Monday, June 3, 2013

A while back, I spent almost an entire day coloring one image, and I finally got around to making it into a card.
I just love the distinct personalities these four beach babes have. :) I never liked coloring skin until I took my Copic Certification class. Now, it's fun. I gave each of these ladies different looks--the first one has clear, medium skin tone, the second is pale, has a little zinc oxide on her nose and cheeks, and uses Red Hot Mama lipstick to give herself bigger lips ;),  the third one has rosacea and age spots, and the last one is my sun worshipper. The image is colored with Copics, and I used a clear Spica pen on the sand and drink glasses, and Glossy Accents on their sunglasses. The white dots on the green scarf are a white gel pen. I added some clouds with a cloud stencil. The seam binding was dyed with Distress Reinkers. My hands will be purple for days!

Here's a better look at the sparkly Spica sand, and the age spots on the third babe's legs.

I almost always use plastic rhinestones, but a friend gave me a packet of Swarovski crystals some months back, and every now and then I splurge with them. It's amazing how much better they look on a card versus plastic bling. I'll be using Swarovski's more often, I think, now that I've figured out an easier way to apply them. (I'll do a post on that later, after I find the tools I need for it).

On the inside I used my score board to make straight and diagonal score lines on the medium purple layer. I hope that cute sentiment made you smile. :)

Thanks so much for stopping by! Enjoy your day.

SUCH amazing colouring! I love the incredible detail - age spots! Sheesh :)
About gems - Aleene's makes a 'jewel' glue that is meant for metal embellishments as well (are the S. crystals metal-backed?) Wal-mart sells it (in the same place you'd find Tacky Glue) and it's only a few bucks, so it might be worth a go!
